It's very important that you back-up your data to Google Drive if you will be swapping or receiving a new machine. Policy assigns the end user the responsibility to ensure that all data is backed up before switching to a new computer. This can be done easily, with ample lead time, using Google Drive.

  1. Ensure you are logged into your Ingenium Google Apps account using your (@ingeniumschools.org).
  2. Open your Google Drive Folder by visiting http://drive.google.com.
  3. Locate the file(s) from your computer that you would like to backup to Google Drive. If you don't know where to start, you can check in the following places:
    1. Desktop
    2. Documents Folder
    3. Downloads Folder
  4. Once you have located a file. Select one or more of the files and drag them into the Google Drive Folder. Wait a moment for upload to complete.

  5. If you have many files, we recommend that you place them all in a new folder you create. Then Drag that folder into Google Drive.

  6. Note that based on your internet connection, this may take some time for files to upload to the cloud. If this is the case, leave your machine on and disable the autosleep functionality so that your laptop doesn't go to sleep in the middle of the upload.
